About this app

Onna is an anxiety management app that can help give you relief from panic and anxiety. It’s not just about coping – it’s about building the confidence to engage more fully in life.

Why choose Onna to help with anxiety?

Living with feelings of anxiety can be limiting. Worrying about what others think, or fearing making a fool of yourself, may lead to procrastination, loss of self-confidence, isolation, and depression.

Traditional therapy to treat these issues can be expensive and difficult to access. Onna breaks down these barriers with expertly-informed support that fits into your pocket, schedule, and budget.

Developed by leading therapist Tiina Sormus, Onna is designed to support wellbeing and help provide panic attack relief and stress reduction, based on real, evidence-backed methods that work.

Who is the Onna app for?

If you feel anxious or have low self-confidence – especially if it’s triggered by situations involving other people such as meetings, interviews and public places – then Onna is for you. It’s a highly-affordable alternative to visiting a therapist and can help you work through your feelings quickly and safely.
It can help you deal with common social anxieties, such as:

- Panic attacks in crowds
- Fear of public speaking
- Imposter syndrome
- Fear of meeting new people
- Not speaking up in social situations.

How does the Onna app work?

Onna has been developed to help you move past the fears and limitations that hold you back, using tried-and-tested EMDR techniques, breathing exercises and visual relaxation.

The app lets you take a situation that causes you anxiety and break it down, step-by-step, into manageable chunks, then helps you address it while you listen to a series of gentle clicks played through your headphones. It might not feel like much is happening, but it’s a fast and highly-effective technique.

Onna has several advantages over traditional therapy:

- You can get started straight away.
- Fast results – often in 12 weeks or fewer.
- Much cheaper than visiting a therapist.
- Practice in your own time and environment.

Is Onna safe to use to combat social anxiety?

With over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, Tiina has developed the Onna app for you to use on your own with confidence.
Onna lets you safely target longer-term chronic anxiety. The app helps you to:

- Identify anxiety triggers.
- Reprocess them safely through EMDR techniques.
- Apply the techniques to low-stakes, real-life situations.
- Grow resilience and a sense of progression to the issue over time.
- Empower you to overcome issues that have been holding you back.

What is EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that involves recalling emotionally distressing memories while simultaneously engaging in a task that taxes your working memory.

This dual-task method helps reduce the emotional intensity of the memories, allowing them to be reprocessed and reconsolidated in long-term memory with less emotional impact.

EMDR has been shown to be effective in addressing unprocessed memories associated with anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.

Although it originally referred specifically to eye movement, EMDR can also include tapping your left and right sides, in the case of the Onna app, gentle clicks played into your left and right ears.
