The scripting language PHP stands for "Personal Home Page Tools" or "PHP Hypertext Preprocessor" and was designed for creating dynamic websites and web applications. Since its development by Rasmus Lerdort, many versions of the language have been released. A multitude of extensions make PHP one of the most powerful tools for developing modern web applications. Well-known content management systems such as WordPress and Joomla, as well as shop systems, are based on PHP.
The PHP course is aimed at ambitious beginners in programming. No prior programming knowledge is required.
The course teaches the features and elements of PHP as well as solutions for typical practical tasks. After a detailed introduction to PHP language elements and their application, the course will introduce and practice typical structures of modern websites and web applications using dynamically generated forms. You will also learn advanced programming concepts through object-oriented programming (OOP) and how to access MySQL databases using PHP scripts.
The written exam can be taken online or at a FernUniversität Hagen campus location of your choice. Upon passing the exam, you will receive a university certificate. Students can also have earned ECTS credits certified for a Certificate of Basic Studies.
Further information can be found on the FernUniversität Hagen website under CeW (Center for Electronic Continuing Education).
