Is the fish in your hands legal to keep? FishRight answers at a glance: MAY KEEP or RELEASE. Keeping an undersized fish or one in its closed season can mean a fine; you should not have to read the regulations on the shore. Fishing regulations, size limits and fish identification in one app.
IDENTIFY THE FISH FROM A PHOTO
Lay the fish on its side with a ruler or card beside it and take a photo. FishRight lists the most likely species with a percentage for each, you make the call, and you get the answer under the rules where you fish. Not sure? Pick from the full species list. Identification runs on your phone first, so it works on the shore with no signal. When the phone model is unsure, the photo is sent to the cloud for a second opinion with its location removed, and it is not stored.
FISH SIZE LIMITS: TYPE THE LENGTH, SEE IT ON THE MEASURING BOARD
Every species has a fish card with one clear answer: MAY KEEP, UNDERSIZE, CLOSED SEASON, LIMIT REACHED or PROHIBITED. As you type the length, the fish is laid on a measuring board against the minimum size and the answer updates. You also see the minimum size, the daily limit, a 12-month season calendar and the legal article behind it, with the source and the date it was last verified.
WHEN DOES THE CLOSED SEASON END?
The home screen lists the species in their closed season where you fish, how many days are left, the closures starting within 30 days and the species that may never be taken. The map shows the no-take areas.
YOUR CATCH LOG
Record species, length, weight, method, bait and notes with a photo. Add the fishing spot if you want it: it is encrypted on your phone and never leaves it. Location tags are removed from saved photos. Export the log as a spreadsheet.
WHEN TO GO OUT?
An hourly bite score, the best windows of the day and a weekly outlook from weather, moon and sea data.
