I've used runkeeper for a few years off and on. Usually I love it. But the last month it hasn't properly tracked my runs. If my screen goes black or if the app isn't on my screen the whole time (like if I want to change my song on spotify) it stops tracking my distance instantly. It ends my run, but will still log the time of my workout. All this does is make tracking my progress impossible. I don't know what you guys changed but you need to change it back! Will be checking out Strava!

Hi Dylan, this appears to be related to default battery optimizations that some Android devices force on the Runkeeper app. To resolve this, please consult this article: https://support.runkeeper.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043536612-Crashing-and-GPS-Issues-on-Android. If you have any questions, email support@runkeeper.com. Thank you :)

Edit 3: I changed the battery optimization it the gps still messes up, it's not that it stops tracking me it is just that is is wrong. Instead of following the roads I am on, sometimes it just cuts straight through buildings as if I could phase through walls. This is a great app that could use a bit more reliability and a dark mode . Love that they added Training plans for longer races/runs.

I have been using runkeeper on and off for a few years now, but now I have been having problems with the GPS. The developer needs to add API to allow gps use all the time. The only way for this app to work is to have the screen on all the time while running. If the screen turns off or i switch app, the app won't work correctly due to the setting, allow gps only while in use. Therefore my runs are no longer accurate, rending this app useless. They fix that, I would give it a 5 star.

Hi Benjamin, your phone should have an app called Safety which has a section labelled Battery and Performance. Under that section, select Runkeeper and activate No restrictions. Additionally, in your Location settings, please ensure that your GPS is set to High Accuracy. Please email us at support@runkeeper.com if you have any questions. Thank you!
