About this game

MasterGear emulates MasterSystem, GameGear, and other classic 8bit consoles made by Sega. It runs MasterSystem and GameGear games right on your Android phone or tablet. Save game progress at any time and share it with friends, or play games together on the network. MasterGear also runs Mark2, Mark3, SG1000, SC3000, and SF7000 games and other software.

* Specifically optimized for Android devices, using assembly language and hardware acceleration to run as fast as possible.
* Supports full screen landscape and portrait modes, with many special effect options.
* Save game play at any point and go back to that point once your character gets killed.
* Share your current position in a game with other users via State Exchange feature.
* Play with other users over local network or Internet via NetPlay feature.
* Play with your hardware keyboard, gamepad, touch screen, or accelerometer.
* Supports ARM-based GoogleTV devices, such as LG G2/G3.
* Supports Bluetooth gamepads, Xperia Play special buttons, iCade, Sixaxis, and Moga gamepads.
* Record soundtrack to MIDI files.

MasterGear package itself does not contain any games. You should place your own game files onto the SD card before running MasterGear.

Please, do not run any software you do not own with MasterGear. The author cannot and will not tell you where to find free MasterSystem or GameGear games.

Please, report any encountered problems here:

Crashes constantly: freeze in gameplay resulting in a still screen (with the quit menu still working) every few minutes, other crashes cause the app to close suddenly, most often without an error message. In between crashes, emulation is very poor: music is TERRIBLE ("sounds wrong"). I HAVE VIDEOTAPED EVIDENCE OF ALL THIS: the dev claims I'm lying (below) in his reply. Reported these problems to the developer: he refused a refund, lied about Google refund procedure, not interested in helping.

If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please, request it from Google Play. As to "random crashing", you may want to check http://fms.komkon.org/EmuAndroid/#LicenseCheck for a cure. The rest of your reported problems are most likely made up in order to force a refund.

Have you heard about scoped storage on android 11 ? Well, my Samsung s21 ultra has android 11, and your app's explorer sees folders but no roms in the folders. This is a HUGE BUG for a paid app. Fix this please. Edit 1 after dev's answer : I have an Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra 5g. I am not doing anaything wrong. As mentioned initially : the explorer bit of your app sees folders, but doesn't see ANY game rom files in the folder. That's a classic bug in the transition to with target SdkVersion=30.

The app has been specifically refactored for scoped storage. It sees both folders and ROMs on Samsung Note10 running Android 11. In the email, I have provided you with instructions on what to click in File Selector to get proper access to your internal storage. You are welcome.

Missing features that I wish were here: 1.) Set the app's volume level independent of other apps 2.) Increase font size so that button labels are legible on my phone (pixel2) 3.) Hide all unused buttons 4.) Manually add boxart to the game list, since the app only found the art for one of my games. 5.) Add custom overlay and button graphics 6.) If UI and Button customization improves, I'd like to be able to backup my layout

1) Not a good thing with Android, it really assumes common volume; 2) There are alternative skins with bigger labels (Settings | Input | Edit Joystick); 3) All the currently shown buttons are used; 4) This is possible, just supply your own box art PNGs renaming them to *.box; 5) Also possible right away; 6) Not sure what you mean here.
