Accessibility Service Disclosure:
MindfulScroll uses Android's AccessibilityService API solely to detect when the user is actively using short-form video apps — specifically TikTok, Instagram (Reels), and YouTube (Shorts). This is the only technically viable method to identify these in-app sessions and provide accurate usage tracking and limit enforcement.
The Accessibility Service is used exclusively to:
Detect which app and screen is currently active
Identify short-form video sessions in TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube
Trigger usage counters and enforce user-defined daily limits
The app does not read, record, or transmit any screen content. It does not interact with, modify, or control any other app. No keystrokes, personal data, credentials, or user-generated content are accessed at any time.
Foreground Service Disclosure:
A foreground service is required to keep the AccessibilityService running reliably in the background. Without it, Android's battery optimization would terminate the service, preventing the app from functioning as intended. The foreground service performs no actions beyond maintaining this connection.
Privacy:
MindfulScroll does not collect, store, or share any personal data. All usage statistics are stored locally on the device and never transmitted. The Accessibility and Foreground services exist solely to support the app's core digital wellbeing functionality.
