About this app

FotoNoa tells you when and where to take the photo you have in mind. Sun, Moon, Milky Way, eclipses, and meteor showers, calculated for your exact location and cross-referenced with the weather forecast.

TODAY, THE WHOLE DAY AT A GLANCE
Sunrise, golden hour, sunset, blue hour, and nightfall, with the weather for each time zone. The phase of the Moon, its risings and settings, and the next eclipse with its countdown.

THE MAP THAT PLANS THE PHOTO
On the Google map, place a pin on the hill, church, or tree you want to photograph and move through time: FotoNoa tells you what time the Sun, Moon, or the center of the Milky Way will pass directly over that location.

• Match: Automatically finds the exact date and time of the alignment
• Dates: Which days the full moon rises behind that peak, with the phase you choose
• Light and shadow of the terrain at any time you want
• Terrain viewer with real relief, to see if the hill blocks your horizon
• Framing preview, with the actual street view or drawn from a distance

AUGMENTED REALITY VIEWER
Point your phone at the sky and you'll see where the Sun, the Moon (with its actual phase), the planets, the constellations, the nebulae, the satellites, and the Space Station are, and where they will be. Compatible phones use ARCore; others use the compass and sensors.

NIGHTS FOR GOING OUT
A simple score from 1 to 10 for the night, which combines cloud cover by layer, humidity, fog, moonlight, and the actual light pollution in your area. And the "Which Night Is Best?" search engine evaluates the next 10 nights and tells you which one to choose and why.

PLACES NEARBY
Viewpoints, hills, beaches, and reservoirs within a 30 km radius, highlighting the quality of their skies, and a daily recommendation: whether this week is a good time for night photography, moon viewing, or sunrise photography.

NEAR YOU: WORKSHOPS, OUTINGS, AND SHOPS
The Nearby tab brings together what's available for photography: workshops and outings led by photographers in your area, with dates, locations, and booking information, and photography shops and services—equipment, rentals, developing, repairs—with their address, phone number, and directions. If you have a shop, service, or event, there's a form for us to add you.

LEARN PHOTOGRAPHY
Step-by-step guides with illustrations and videos: photography principles, night sky, portrait, landscape, product, time-lapse, the Moon, the Sun, filters, and how to choose a lens. You upload your camera and lenses just once, and the tutorials give you the exact specifications for YOUR equipment. And in the Courses tab, you'll find online courses from photographers that teach what the app helps you plan.
