Wow, I'm impressed! I didn't think this app could get any flakier but unbelievably this new update achieves it. We'll done the developers, you achieved what I thought wasn't possible. And to add insult to injury it's a battery hog too! Just needs some spyware or a virus adding at it would be PERFECT!
Excellent paper, good app This seems to be one of the few papers that doesn't just repeat what the BBC news says. It doesn't spend pages on what the latest celebrity looks like when they lose or gain weight/age/dress down. Instead, it has informed commentary and intelligent investigation. I have no real problem with the app on my Samsung Galaxy Tab E: it works smoothly as I swipe from page to page and the odd page of ads are attractive and usually motionless. Only criticism, unlike the rather dull Guardian, it doesn't load onto my SD card.
Could be so much better After a year or more of everyone complaining, some feeble blame-shifting and several updates... it STILL hangs. The website looks reasonably mobile-friendly, so I'll stick with that. (Psst: nobody reads adverts anyway. Nobody! Pass it on)
Crashes alot I'm using a fully updated s6 and ever time I read the Independent it crashes. I keep trying because I really like the content but it's driving me insane. I feel like it's the adverts loading over the top that is causing the problems I may be wrong.... please sort it out. Once it crashes if I wait it will work until I close the app again could take 90 seconds
Sell-out I used to read this paper for.... independence.... That means unbiased, non prejudice articles. However they've gone the way of all mass media franchises now and stopped giving cold hard facts for us to form our own opinion. "No sir, please spoon feed me your opinion so I can gobble it all up and leave any thought out of it."
Still Pants These updates are almost laughable. Having ceased the print edition and gone solely online the Indi herald a brave new world of digital journalism by adding the word 'live' to the logo. Crashes are still aplenty. While some of their best journos Fisk and Cockburn are buried between reams of click bait. Unless they get this right soon, we'll be reading about the complete demise of the Indi in the Express.
