About this app

Keep a week of Japanese Walking, not just a session.

Every walk you finish - full or cut short - becomes one line in a monthly log you can look back on, and can be exported to Health Connect as a workout, so the record lives on your phone even after you close the app.

The routine (Interval Walking Training, developed by researchers at Shinshu University in Matsumoto, Japan): three minutes brisk, three minutes easy, five rounds, thirty minutes. A beep and a buzz mark every change of pace, and the whole screen changes color too (warm for brisk, cool for easy), so one glance tells you where you are.

- Your week, kept honestly
The published routine is four walks a week; the app keeps that count for you. A monthly calendar shows the walks you finished and the ones you cut short - both are kept, nothing is hidden or reset.

- Health Connect, write-only
Finished walks can be saved to Health Connect as a workout - just the workout, nothing else - no calories, no steps, no distance, no heart rate. The app never reads anything back from Health Connect.

- Built for walking, not for staring at a screen
Keeps running with the screen off and the phone locked. It counts against the system clock, so you can lock the phone or take a call and come back to exactly the right time remaining. Big, plain numbers you can read at arm's length. No account, no sign-up - the first tap starts your first walk.

- Your music and podcasts keep playing
The cues just duck the volume for a second, then hand it back.

- Make it yours, free
Change the length of each phase and the number of sets in Settings - no unlock, no purchase, no waiting. There is no purchase screen anywhere in this app.

- Honest limits
It is a walking log and timer, not medical advice, and it makes no claim about your health. Peer-reviewed studies on Interval Walking Training have been published; the app links to a paper on PubMed so you can read it and decide for yourself. Check with a doctor before starting a new exercise routine, especially with a heart condition, joint pain, or pregnancy.

- What it does not do
No ads, no tracking, no account. No GPS, no maps, no route recording. Your walk history stays on this device unless you choose to export it. No sharing, no leaderboards.

Thirty minutes, four times a week, one line in your log each time. The first one starts with a single tap.
