About this app

DeviceEQ is a parametric equalizer for the sound that comes out of your phone. It shapes music, video, browser audio and other apps on the phone speaker, wired headphones, USB audio and Bluetooth.

HOW IT WORKS
• DeviceEQ attaches Android's built-in DynamicsProcessing audio effect to the phone's global output mix, so one setting shapes the sound of your other apps.
• Some phones do not allow this. DeviceEQ then switches to per-app mode automatically. In per-app mode it works with players that announce their audio session to equalizer apps (Android's standard equalizer connection).

PRECISE EDITING
• Up to 24 bands: peak, low shelf, high shelf, high-pass and low-pass
• Drag points on a large frequency-response graph (landscape screen)
• Rotary knobs for frequency, gain and Q; tap a knob to type an exact value
• Graph range ±12, ±18 or ±24 dB
• Pink-noise test tone so you can hear each change

PRESETS AND PROFILES
• 21 presets: Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Dance, Hip-Hop, Electronic, R&B, Acoustic, Piano, Latin, Lounge, Deep, Vocal, Spoken Word, Bass Boost, Bass Cut, Treble Boost, Treble Cut, Loudness, Small Speakers
• Save your own sound settings as named profiles
• Import and export in the AutoEq / Equalizer APO "ParametricEQ.txt" text format: paste from the clipboard, open a file, or copy to the clipboard

REMEMBERS YOUR BLUETOOTH DEVICES
• For each Bluetooth audio device, DeviceEQ remembers which profile you used and switches back to it when the device reconnects.
• It changes only the EQ, never the volume, so reconnecting does not suddenly blast sound.
• Remembered devices can be forgotten in Settings.

PROTECTION AGAINST CLIPPING
• Automatic preamp lowers the level by the largest boost in your curve
• Limiter at −1 dBFS
• Manual preamp if you prefer to set it yourself

PRECISION SETTING
• Standard, High or Highest (FFT 1024, 2048 or 4096 points)
• Bass resolution about 47, 23 or 12 Hz
• Added delay about 21, 43 or 85 ms while a curve is active
• When all bands are at 0 dB, processing is bypassed and there is no added delay

EVERYDAY USE
• Ongoing notification with a Stop button while the EQ is on
• Optional start when the phone boots
• Light and dark theme
• English, Japanese, French and German, with a language switch inside the app

PRIVACY
• No internet permission, no ads, no analytics, no account
• No microphone access and no Bluetooth permission
• All settings, including remembered device names, stay on your phone

GOOD TO KNOW
• The EQ may not apply to phone calls, some low-latency game audio, or DRM-protected audio.
• On some phone models the manufacturer blocks system-wide mode. DeviceEQ then uses per-app mode, which only works with players that support it.
• Android releases an audio effect when the app that created it is closed. To keep your EQ working, DeviceEQ runs a foreground service with an ongoing notification while the EQ is on. Tap Stop to turn it off at any time.
• Requires Android 9 or later.

DeviceEQ is not affiliated with AutoEq or Equalizer APO; it only reads and writes their text format.
