About this app

Gchat is a messenger for messaging, calling, and posting. Personal and group chats,
channels, a post feed, audio and video calls—all in one app, ad-free and
tracker-free.

CHATS
• Personal and group chats with text, photos, videos, voice messages, and files
• Voice and video messages — recorded by holding the button
• Replies, forwards, reactions with emoji
• Editing and deleting sent messages — for yourself or for everyone
• History is stored on the server: new devices see the conversation

CALLS
• One-on-one audio and video calls
• Camera switching, microphone muting, connection statistics
• Calls work across networks and countries — through a dedicated relay

CHANNELS AND FEED
• Channels for publications: written by the author, read by subscribers
• Four post formats: vertical video, lifestyle (text, voice, carousel),
news with blocks and media inside, simple message
• Feed with two tabs — videos and posts
• Interests: likes and "not interested" customize the feed for you, not for advertising
• 18+ content is excluded To the general feed

READING AND MEDIA
• Built-in book reader with bookmarks and reading position
• Background audio playback with notifications and buttons
• Gallery and file selection within the app

DESIGN
• Ready-made themes, light and dark
• Theme editor: custom color, rounding, pattern, transparency, custom background image
• Mode for those with poor color vision
• Russian, English, and Arabic languages

PRIVACY
• No ads, no ad networks, no analytics SDK, no trackers
• We don't read your address book or collect geolocation
• Data is not sold to anyone, ever
• All traffic is sent over TLS
• Account deletion is possible in the app or on the website, without installing the app:

• Honestly: message contents are stored on the server and are technically accessible to it.
End-to-end encryption isn't available yet—we say this outright, not in the fine print.
This is our next big goal.

NO FLAWLESS
The app is lightweight, doesn't wake your phone unnecessarily, and doesn't ask for permissions it doesn't need. The microphone is only active when you're recording or making calls.
The camera is only active when you're filming or making calls.
