About this app

MTimer is a clean, unguided meditation timer built for people who sit regularly. No guided voices, no social feeds, no distractions β€” just a beautiful meditation clock, an authentic meditation bell, and your practice.

See how your body actually responds to mindfulness and silent meditation. MTimer uniquely scores your session using heart rate and HRV data, compared to your personal daily baseline, synced from any Health Connect-compatible wearable and processed entirely on your device.

WHY CHOOSE MTIMER
Most meditation apps turn mindfulness into a game β€” streaks, loud notifications, costly subscriptions. MTimer takes the opposite approach. It's built for traditional practice, whether that's Vipassana, Ashtanga yoga, Zen, or secular mindfulness, and it's designed to disappear into the background so the only thing left is your sit.

TIMER & PRACTICE
The core is a sleek rotating dial timer β€” set your duration and tap to begin. From there:

Vipassana and interval bells for mantra, Zazen, and insight practice

Ambient soundscapes including rain, ocean waves, bamboo flute, pink noise, and white noise

Zen mode, a low-stimulus display for open-eyed meditation, with a minimal dial or digital clock, custom fonts, adjustable brightness, and a screen that stays awake through your sit

Open-ended mode for sitting without a fixed end time

Smart presets that save your duration, prep countdown, chimes, and ambient sound together

Headphone-friendly audio β€” bells and ambient sound route through your media channel rather than notifications, so headphones behave properly and nothing gets ducked or interrupted

Do Not Disturb, toggled automatically for your sit and restored when the bell rings (requires system permission)

A customizable interface β€” simplify the app and hide sections like Learn if you don't need them

Fully offline, with no internet required

UNDERSTAND YOUR SITTING: CALM SCORE
After each session, MTimer shows you how your body actually responded. The Calm Score measures your heart rate drop and rhythm stability during the sit, then compares your HRV (Heart Rate Variability) against your own personal daily baseline, not a generic average. It works with any Health Connect-linked wearable, including Wear OS, Galaxy Watch, Fitbit, Garmin, and Polar devices. You'll also see a weekly calm average alongside your total meditation minutes. All of this is processed locally; your biometric data never leaves your device.

TRACK YOUR PRACTICE
A full session history with quick relaunch, streaks, total hours, and weekly progress, plus seamless sync to Health Connect.

LEARN TO MEDITATE
Minimalist text guides cover seven classical methods: breath awareness (Hum-sau), mantra repetition, self-inquiry (Advaita Vedanta), inner sound meditation, and more. Suited to Vipassana, secular mindfulness, TM, Dzogchen, and Zazen practitioners alike, from complete beginners to decades-experienced sitters.

A FEW QUESTIONS
Do I need a watch to use MTimer? No, it works fully as a standalone silent meditation timer. Wearable integration is entirely optional.
How does syncing work? Grant Health Connect permission once, and MTimer reads your heart rate automatically right after each session ends.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No ads, no subscriptions, no tracking. Your data belongs to you β€” back it up and restore it through your own Google Drive or a local JSON file, whenever you choose. Calm Score is entirely opt-in.

If MTimer supports your daily practice, a small optional tip keeps this indie project going.
