About this app

Help advance the science of meditation while gaining personalized insight to deepen your practice.

The GoDeeper Research App is for experienced meditators participating in a large-scale meditation brainwave study. We are looking for 1,000 meditators to contribute at least 10 sessions each so researchers can build a richer understanding of what happens in the brain during deep meditation.

Using a lightweight Muse™ headband, GoDeeper records your brainwave activity during your normal meditation practice. After each session, you answer a short set of multiple-choice questions about your experience. Your brainwave data and session report are then evaluated together to generate practical suggestions for deepening your practice.

What participation involves

To take part, you agree to:
• Meditate at least three times per week for 20 minutes or longer
• Contribute at least 10 meditation sessions within one month
• Tap once on your phone when emerging from a deep state
• Tap twice when recovering from distraction
• Complete 15 multiple-choice questions after each session

You do not need to interact with your phone while deeply absorbed in meditation. The taps mark meaningful transitions in your experience so they can be compared with your recorded brain activity.

Personalized AI meditation coaching

After each session, GoDeeper provides practical suggestions based on:
• Your recorded brainwave activity
• Your reported meditation experience
• The type of meditation you practice
• Your level of experience
• Patterns across your previous sessions

The more sessions you contribute, the more context the AI coach has about your individual practice. You can also converse with the coach and ask specific questions informed by your accumulated session data.

Recording your brainwaves

GoDeeper works with the Muse™ brain-sensing headband made by Interaxon (not IMBR). If you already own a Muse headset, you can use your own. If you do not have one, you may qualify to receive a one-month loaner if:
• You have practiced a specific meditation style at least twice per week for more than one year
• You record a minimum of 10 sessions in the month
• You agree to pass the headset on to another study participant after completing your participation

If you want to keep using the software after the month has passed, you will need to get your own Muse headset. You can find used headsets on eBay or receive 15% off from Interaxon.

The GoDeeper Research App is not for sale. Participants in the study get a free one-year subscription.

Your contribution

Your participation helps create the larger dataset needed to study meditation with greater precision across different practices, level of experience, subjective states, and brainwave patterns.

In return, you receive personalized feedback on your own practice while contributing data that will help improve the scientific understanding of meditation.
