GOTCHA is a personal safety camera that turns your phone into a witness.
One tap captures the photo, records where and when, hashes it and encrypts it - before your hand is back in your pocket. It is a safety camera app for the walk home, the argument in the car park, the damage you will be asked to prove next week.
WHAT MAKES IT EVIDENCE
- The instant a photo is taken, GOTCHA computes its SHA-256 fingerprint and sends it to our server, which records it with its own clock. That record cannot be edited or deleted afterwards - not by us, and not by you. If the photo is altered later, the fingerprint no longer matches.
- GPS coordinates and the place name are captured alongside the photo.
- Exports include the untouched original file, the hash recorded at capture, and a plain-English file explaining exactly what can and cannot be verified.
- Export is free and stays free, whether you are subscribed or not.
ENCRYPTED SO THAT ONLY YOU CAN OPEN IT
- Photos are encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM.
- The key lives in your device's secure keystore and is never sent to us. We cannot open your photos.
- Nothing is written to your camera roll, so scrolling through your gallery reveals nothing.
- A recovery code lets you read your cloud backups again after a reinstall or on a new phone. Keep it somewhere safe - without it, encrypted backups stay unreadable.
WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
Capturing, fingerprinting and sealing all happen on the phone. A basement car park, a lift, a road with no coverage - the capture is finished and sealed before the app has any opinion about the network. It uploads itself when you are back online.
GUARDIAN CIRCLE
- Add the people you trust. When you capture, they are alerted straight away with the time and place.
- One subscription covers five people - you and four others. They join with a code and need no subscription of their own.
- You decide what is shared. Private stays private.
PHOTOS ONLY
There is no video recording and no audio recording. This is a deliberate limit, not a missing feature.
IF YOU DO NOT ALLOW LOCATION
The photo is still captured and still sealed. It is recorded as having no coordinates rather than being given false ones. The only permission the app actually requires is the camera.
SUBSCRIPTION
GOTCHA Pro is RM 5.00 a month in Malaysia after a 7-day free trial; elsewhere Google Play shows the price in your own currency. The trial costs nothing, and if you cancel before it ends you are not charged. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you can cancel any time in Google Play.

We cannot promise any photo will be accepted by a court - that is for a court to decide. What GOTCHA gives you is a file that can be shown not to have changed since the moment it was taken, and a server-side timestamp proving when its fingerprint was recorded.
