Edit: got it working on my new phone but took a lot of settings changes. I used this app for more than 5 years, but every time I came back to it, there were more changes and a lower star rating. It still kind of works on my old phone, but my newer one, the audio coming out, is like robotic ants. Staticey, quiet, and chirpy. What's heard is almost not recognizable as English. I tested other apps and different audio recorders, and only this one has unusable audio.

I think this app is doing what it claims, and it seems to be well-made, and I'm thankful for the lack of ads, but I must reduce my rating due to lack of documentation. I have tried every combination of inputs and outputs, gain, volume, equalizers, etc., and I still cannot figure out what the In and Out settings do. No matter how I change them, they don't seem to control which input the sound comes from or which output it goes to. Also, there is no documentation telling whether the settings you're changing affect the microphone functionality after you exit the app. I learned the hard way that my microphone was still listening and outputting to my BT audio stream after backing out of the app. By messing with all these settings, am I screwing up my microphone for other apps like the Phone permanently?

Maybe this is good.... I guess I'll give one extra star because yes it does exactly what it says it does. But for me, it's not what I'm looking for. Speakers can act as a mic. Physically. So I need an app that will allow me to adjust audio routes. I want to use an external mic for things. And control the levels of that mic. Then also control the audio output routes.
