About this app

A trip is a suitcase. Everything for it lives in one place on your phone: the plan, the days, the map, the money and the papers. There is no account to create and no server of ours; you share the suitcase as a file, and a friend who opens it gets the same trip.

ONE SUITCASE
Flights, stays, trains, buses, ferries, rental cars, places to see and notes, grouped by destination and in date order. Add a flight with its number and confirmation, a stay with its check-in and check-out, a place with how long you plan to spend there. Every item can carry a reminder, a note and a paper.

DAYS THAT MAKE SENSE
One column per day of the trip. Flights, check-ins and check-outs land on their day by themselves; places are dropped onto a day and dragged into order. Between two stops, an estimated travel time on foot, by transit or by car (marked with a ~, because it is an estimate, not directions). A day that adds up to more than twelve hours says so.

EVERYTHING ON THE MAP
Every place you saved and every item with an address, as a sticker pin. Hold the map to save a spot, search a place by name, and see a day's route drawn stop by stop. One tap opens directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps. Apple Maps on iPhone and iPad, Google Maps on Android.

SPLIT WITHOUT THE AWKWARD PART
Add what each person paid, in the currency they paid it in. Split it equally, by shares or by exact amounts. Valise keeps every balance in the trip's currency and works out the fewest transfers that settle the whole trip, so four people are square in two payments instead of six. A budget with a progress bar, totals by category, and a CSV of every expense when you want it in a spreadsheet. Exchange rates are yours to type, or fetched with one tap from the European Central Bank feed; that fetch is the only time the app touches the network.

PAPERS IN THE SUITCASE
Tickets, bookings, insurance, a PDF from the hotel: pick a file and a copy is kept inside the trip, next to the item it belongs to, and opens with the system viewer. A cover photo per trip, from your photo library.

SHARE A FILE, NOT AN ACCOUNT
Send the suitcase as a .valise file, by AirDrop, WhatsApp, Messages or Mail. Whoever opens it can add it as a new trip or merge it into their copy: the latest edit of each item wins, and the expenses you paid yourself are never overwritten by someone else's file. Nobody signs up. Nobody's trip sits on a server. There is also a trip card to share as a picture: the name, the dates, the places, the people, and how many transfers settle it.

WORKS WHERE YOU ARE
Everything is stored on the device, so the plan opens on the plane, in the metro and in the town with no signal. Reminders before a flight or a check-in are local notifications on your own phone. "Add trip to calendar" writes the dated items to your calendar, once, when you ask. English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German. Day and night looks.

FREE, WITH A SMALL AD
Valise is free. A banner on the trips list, the money screen and settings pays for it, and now and then a full-screen ad after a settle-up or a shared trip card. Never on the map, never on a day, never in a form. Nothing is sold: no in-app purchase, no upgrade.

What Valise does not do, on purpose: no accounts, no live editing between phones, no cloud backup, no flight lookup by number, no itinerary written for you, no turn-by-turn routing. It is a suitcase, packed by you, that fits in a file.
Plan the days, map every place, split the money. No account, works offline.
