Charter handover is over in five rushed minutes. The base hands you the keys, you sign, you sail — and weeks later a damage claim you cannot disprove eats into your deposit. HandoverBoat turns that handover into an evidence record you control.
WALK 27 ZONES BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE DOCK
HandoverBoat walks you around the yacht zone by zone: 16 critical zones covering hull, deck, engine, sails and safety gear, plus 11 optional ones for galley, heads, electronics, tender and documents. It prompts you to photograph the exact state of each. Nothing to remember, nothing missed. About 45 minutes.
WHY IT HOLDS UP
Every photo is hashed with SHA-256 and timestamped on the server the moment it arrives, then locked into a record that cannot be quietly edited afterwards. The finished PDF carries a public verify link — the charter company, your bank, your insurer or a court can open it and confirm the photos are the originals, unchanged since handover. You are not asking anyone to take your word for it.
BEFORE AND AFTER, NOT JUST BEFORE
One inspection at handover, one on return. A paired before/after record settles a dispute far better than the handful of photos most skippers take on their phone. It also survives the way people hand photos over today: sending them through WhatsApp strips the metadata that made them worth anything.
WORKS WHERE MARINAS HAVE NO SIGNAL
The inspection runs fully offline. Deep in the marina with no bars, you keep walking, keep shooting, keep moving through the zones. Everything syncs to your account once you are back online.
WHAT IT COSTS
The inspection walk is free and needs no card. The evidence report is €19 once — against a deposit of €1,500 to €5,000. Professionals running several bareboat yachts start at €8 per month.
