About this game

CatchRect is a minimalist arcade game built on one simple idea: a paddle, a stream of falling squares, and your reflexes.

Squares rain down from the top of the screen. Slide your paddle — drag anywhere, or use the arrow keys / A and D — to catch the good ones and dodge the rest. You start with three lives; lose them all and it's game over. The catch? The higher you climb, the faster they fall.

WHAT TO CATCH
⬜ White — +1 point, the backbone of your score
🟩 Green — an extra life
🟦 Shield — blocks red hits for a few seconds
🟪 Slow Motion — slows every falling square for a few seconds

WHAT TO DODGE
🟥 Red — costs a life, and some fall fast
🟧 Platform Slow — your paddle turns sluggish
🔀 Invert Controls — left becomes right

BUILD YOUR COMBO
Catch white squares back-to-back to raise your multiplier:
• 5 in a row → x2
• 10 in a row → x3
• 20 in a row → x5
Catch a red square or let a white one slip past, and the streak resets to zero.

IT ONLY GETS HARDER
The more points you score, the faster squares fall, the more often they spawn, and the more your paddle shrinks. Every run is a fresh test of how long you can hold on.

AFTER EVERY RUN
See exactly how you did — survival time, whites caught, best combo, lives gained, and hits your shield absorbed — then submit your best score to the online leaderboard and see where you stand.

BUILT TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY
Clean, minimalist visuals. A pure-black mode for OLED screens. Pick it up, play a round, put it down.

How long can you survive?
