About this app

Fluid Calculator is a professional tool for engineers, technicians, and students who work with pipe flow, pressure loss, and pump selection. The app provides two distinct modes tailored to different needs.

ENGINEER MODE
Five standalone calculators for quick, reliable results:
Flow Velocity & Flow Rate — Calculate velocity and volumetric flow rate from pipe diameter, pressure drop, and fluid density using the orifice/ Bernoulli equation.
Reynolds Number — Compute the Reynolds number and automatically classify the flow regime as Laminar, Transitional, or Turbulent.
Darcy-Weisbach Pressure Loss — Determine pressure drop and head loss in pipes using the Darcy-Weisbach equation with the Colebrook-White iterative friction factor for turbulent flow and the 64/Re formula for laminar flow. Adjustable pipe roughness is supported.
Pump Power — Calculate hydraulic power and shaft power from flow rate, head, and pump efficiency.
Unit Converter — Convert between metric and imperial units across four categories: pressure (Pa, kPa, MPa, bar, atm, psi, mmHg, mmH2O), flow rate (m3/s, L/s, GPM, CFM, and more), velocity (m/s, km/h, ft/s, mph, knot), and power (W, kW, MW, hp, BTU/h).

All engineer-mode calculators accept metric inputs and display results with corresponding units.

STUDENT MODE
A guided learning flow that walks through fluid mechanics concepts step by step:

Step 1 — An SVG pipe-flow diagram introduces the relationship between pipe geometry and flow rate.
Step 2 — Enter pipe diameter, flow velocity, fluid density, and dynamic viscosity.
Step 3 — View the calculated flow rate, Reynolds number, and flow regime with expandable panels that explain what the results mean and where they apply in real-world scenarios.
Step 4 — Bernoulli's Equation analyzer. Enter pressure, velocity, and elevation at two points along a pipe to check energy conservation. The app breaks down each term of the Bernoulli equation and indicates whether energy is conserved.
Step 5 — Interactive pressure loss vs. flow rate chart generated from your inputs, with adjustable pipe diameter, pipe length, and max velocity.

A Fluid Properties Reference table is included with 20 entries for water (0-100 C), air (0-100 C), SAE 10W-30 oil, crude oil, and hydraulic oil. Each entry shows density, dynamic viscosity, kinematic viscosity, and specific heat. The table can be filtered by fluid type (liquid or gas) and searched by name.
