Beware – Hipages does not properly check licences. I hired a fencing contractor through Hipages, paid a $3,000 deposit, and he never did the work. Instead, he demanded more money and then blocked all contact. NSW Fair Trading later confirmed he was unlicensed for this type of job. The serious concern here is not just one bad tradie, but that Hipages allows anyone to create a profile with no real licence verification for jobs over $5,000. This creates a platform where scammers can operate freel
