HipAngle Pro is a study and documentation app for the Graf method used in infant hip ultrasound. It is not a medical device. You draw the reference lines yourself and the app does the geometry.
NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE - PLEASE READ FIRST
HipAngle Pro is not a medical device: it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and you should always consult a qualified healthcare professional. The app gives no diagnosis, no assessment of any individual patient and no treatment advice. It is made for learning, practising and documenting the Graf measurement technique. Clinical decisions remain entirely yours and follow your own training, your own examination and your local guidelines. Parents looking for an answer about their child's hips should see a doctor.
HOW IT WORKS
- Open an infant hip ultrasound image from your gallery, your camera, or one received over DICOM (Pro).
- Draw the three Graf reference lines by hand: the baseline, the bony roof line and the cartilage roof line.
- The app computes the alpha angle and the beta angle from the lines you placed, and from nothing else.
- Compare your own reading against the built-in Graf reference guide.
- Nothing is detected or measured for you. Every line is yours, and so is every conclusion.
GRAF REFERENCE GUIDE (FREE)
A built-in reference for the Graf classification: the types, the alpha and beta angle ranges that define them, the age element, and what each of the three lines is. Work the same image again and watch how the angles move when one line moves.
GRAF TYPE (PRO)
With Pro the app also shows which Graf type your own two values fall into, next to the published Graf criteria. It is a look-up in a published table, not an assessment of a hip, and it is a Pro feature.
PDF DOCUMENTATION (PRO)
Export your own measurement as a PDF: the image, the lines as you drew them, the alpha and beta values and your notes. A record of the measurement you made, for your own study file or teaching folder.
DICOM RECEIVE (PRO)
The app can act as a DICOM receiver: images can be sent to the phone from an ultrasound system or a PACS on the same network instead of being photographed off a screen. Transfer, format handling and display only.
WHO IT IS FOR
Paediatricians, radiologists, orthopaedic surgeons, sonographers, residents and students who work with the Graf method.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Everything happens on your phone. The app has no backend and no account, it sends nothing anywhere, and it carries no analytics and no third-party tracking. Images, measurements and PDFs stay on the phone; if you want to pass a PDF on, you do that yourself.
ANDROID, PHONES AND TABLETS, 15 LANGUAGES
English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Polish, Romanian, Hungarian, Croatian, Slovenian, Serbian, Bosnian, Russian and Turkish. There is no desktop version.
PLANS
- Free: open an image, draw the three lines, read the alpha and beta angle values, and use the Graf reference guide.
- Pro: the Graf type for your own measurement, PDF export and sharing, and DICOM receive.
- Pro monthly and Pro yearly are subscriptions and renew until you cancel, which you can do any time in Google Play. The yearly plan comes with a 1-week free trial for anyone who has not subscribed to this app before; the monthly plan has no trial.
- Pro lifetime is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
Prices differ from country to country, and Google Play shows you the price that applies to you, in your own currency, before you buy.
BACKGROUND
The Graf method is the measurement technique used in infant hip ultrasound in the context of hip dysplasia, or developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). HipAngle Pro is a study aid for that method. It is not a screening tool and it does not assess any individual hip.
