About this app
BBQ Notebook is a cook log for people who actually care about BBQ.
Every smoke is its own story. The rub you tried, the wood blend, the temps that stuck and the temps that drifted, the weather that morning. Without notes you forget half of it by the next weekend.
I built BBQ Notebook because I was tired of writing things down on shop towels and losing them by Tuesday.
WHAT YOU CAN TRACK ON EACH COOK
• Meat, cut, weight
• Rub and sauce (save them once, reuse across cooks)
• Wood blend
• Smoker type and fuel source
• Cook temp, wrap method, finish temp, rest time
• Weather, auto-filled from your nearest NWS observation station
• Photos of the cook from start to finish
• Outcome notes — what worked, what to try next time
REUSE WHAT WORKS
Save your rubs and sauces as recipes. Once you've saved a brisket rub, you can apply it to any future cook with one tap. No more re-typing eight ingredients every time the smoker comes out.
SHARE WITH PEOPLE YOU ACTUALLY COOK WITH
Friend codes are private. No public feed, no random users. You exchange a 6-character code with someone you trust, both sides accept, and from then on you can compare cooks and trade recipes. That's it.
BUILT BY A BBQ FAMILY FROM KANSAS CITY
Born and raised in the greater Kansas City area, so BBQ was never a hobby I picked up. It was just how we ate. When we got our first smoker a few years back, it was mine. Nobody else was touching it.
As a United Methodist pastor in seminary, some of the best conversations I've had about God and about life happened around either a meat smoker or a table with smoked meat. I don't believe that's an accident.

• No public feeds or random user content
• No selling your data — Firebase handles auth and storage, that's it
• No promoted recipes or sponsored anything
