About this app
Tintbox is a colour palette generator and export tool for designers and developers. It works completely offline, with no account and no sign-up, and everything you make stays on your device.
Start from any base colour - type an exact HEX, RGB or HSL value or drag the sliders - and Tintbox builds classic colour-theory harmonies around it: complementary, analogous, triadic, monochromatic and tetradic. Pull colours out of a photo you take or choose from your gallery, or use the eyedropper to tap any pixel and sample its exact colour. Save what you like to a local library and back the whole thing up to a ZIP file whenever you want.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Pick a base colour with precise HEX, RGB and HSL entry, plus sliders
- Generate five harmony types: complementary, analogous, triadic, monochromatic and tetradic
- Extract a palette from any photo, or eyedrop a single pixel to sample its colour
- Tap any swatch to copy it as HEX, rgb(...) or hsl(...)
- Save, rename and organise palettes in a local library
- Back up and restore everything as a ZIP through the Android share sheet
BUILT-IN ACCESSIBILITY
- WCAG contrast checker: pick any two colours and see the contrast ratio with clear AA and AAA pass/fail marks for normal and large text
- Colour-blindness simulator: preview a palette as it appears with protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia
Please note: the contrast checker compares two colours you choose. It is a design aid for checking colour contrast, not a certification of this app's own accessibility.

Unlock the full set of 17 formats with a single rewarded video, including Less, CSS @theme (Tailwind v4), Tailwind config, JSON, W3C Design Tokens, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose, Flutter, Android colours XML, MAUI XAML, GIMP/Inkscape .gpl, SVG swatches, and raw HEX, RGB and HSL lists. Tidy the output with optional semantic colour names, hex casing and indentation.

Thirty hand-picked, themed palette packs - Coastal, Cyberpunk, Autumn Harvest, Retro and many more - for when you want a designed starting point instead of a generated one. The Essentials pack is free; the rest open while your ad-free window is active.
FREE, WITH ADS
Tintbox is free and supported by Google AdMob. A banner sits at the bottom of the screen, and an occasional interstitial appears when you open the Packs browser. Watching one optional rewarded video opens a 24-hour ad-free window that removes interstitials (the banner stays) and unlocks every export format and palette pack. There are no in-app purchases. Where required, consent for personalised ads is handled through Google's User Messaging Platform.

No account, no cloud, no sign-up. Your palettes and any photos you use are stored only on your device. Photos are processed on-device to pick out their colours and are never uploaded or shared anywhere. Reliable, private colour tooling that stays on your phone.
