About this app

Hand WhereShot a photo and it works out where it was taken. No GPS tag needed. It reads the picture itself.

The frame is full of evidence if you know what to look at: the pitch of a roof, the script on a shopfront, the way a coastline bends, a mountain sitting where only one mountain sits. WhereShot names the place, drops a pin, and shows you what it spotted, so the answer is yours to judge rather than take on faith. When two places would explain the same photo, it gives you both and says why.

Keep what's worth keeping. Anywhere you've been, or want to go, goes into Places with your own notes, the opening hours and the season worth coming back in.

Your world fills in as you go. Every place you keep lights up on a map of the whole planet, with the countries and continents counted as they arrive.

Already have the photos? WhereShot reads the coordinates sitting in your camera roll and builds that map out of trips you took years ago. It names them from a dataset of 170,000 settlements shipped inside the app, so putting your own map together sends your locations nowhere.

For anyone retracing an old trip, or staring at a picture and needing to know where on earth it is.
