About this app

Japa Counter is a focused, fully offline mala counter for mantra japa, sadhana and daily spiritual practice. No account, no ads, no internet permission — your practice stays entirely on your device.

TAP, VOLUME KEYS, OR AUTOMATIC
Count with a tap anywhere on screen, with the volume buttons while the screen is off, or let auto mode count at your own pace. A background service keeps counting when you minimise the app, so your session survives a phone call or a locked screen.

MALA TRACKING THAT MATCHES REAL PRACTICE
Set any mala size — 108, 27, 54, or your own. The counter rolls over automatically, tracks completed malas, and keeps a lifetime count for every mantra you practise. Physical mala users can add completed rounds in bulk.

SANKALPA AND PURASCHARANA
Take a formal vow and track it properly. Set a target — one lakh, ten lakh, or any number — and Japa Counter shows your daily rate, your progress against each milestone, and a realistic completion date based on how you are actually practising.

MANTRA AUDIO
Record a mantra in your own voice or import an audio file, then loop it. Each loop counts automatically, so you can chant along without touching the phone.

STREAKS AND MILESTONES
Build consistency with daily streaks and traditional milestones — Mandala (40 days), Tapasya (90), Chaturmasya (120), Samvatsara (365) and Sahasra Dina (1000). A practice heat map shows your whole history at a glance.

PANCHANGA CALENDAR
An event calendar for auspicious days — ekadashi, purnima, amavasya, pradosha and more — so ya merit for japa, with suggested practices for each.

ROUTINES
Chain several mantras and readings into an ordered routine and move through it in one guided emplates are included for common sadhanas.

READINGS
Track parayana and scripture reading alongside japa — chapters, pages and verses, with the same streak and history support.

DEVANAGARI SUPPORT
Mantras render correctly in Devanagari with a bundled font, so nothing depends on your device

YOUR DATA IS YOURS
Everything is stored locally. Export a full backup to a JSON file whenever you like and restore it on another device. Nothing is uploaded, because the app has no network access at all — you can verify this yourself in the app's permission list.

Japa Counter is built for anyone maintaining a japa practice — Gayatri, Mahamrityunjaya, Hare Krishna mahamantra, Om Namah Shivaya, guru mantra, bija mantras, or any personal sadhana given by your teacher.
Count and keep track of long term japas and purushcharanas.
