We wanted to solve a problem that we were experiencing ourselves. It can be hard to find new people to do things with (IRL).
We live around people, but we don't know most of them. Some of them might have overlapping interests with us, but we have no easy way of meeting/finding them. Community helps people in the same area do things together IRL.
Community centers around video posts where you can let others know what you want to do (ex. "does anyone want to go hiking this weekend"). You can set preferences on who sees your posts (distance, age, gender). Posts only stay active for a fixed limited duration (anywhere from an hour to a week). If you are uncomfortable making a video post, you can opt to use your profile picture instead with your posts.
Examples of who we think might find this helpful:
-If you are new to a place, and want to find others to join you on some local exploring
-If you signed up for a marathon/iron man/5k and want to find some training buddies nearby
-You like going thrifting, but would enjoy it more if you had someone to go with you
-If you haven't played Dungeons and Dragons for a long time, and want to see if a few people nearby want to meet up for a game night
-And many other scenarios
Reddit forums, Meetup, Craigslist and even dating apps try to address this issue. We are taking it on in a different way. Hopefully some of you find it helpful.
