About this app

Weld Math gives you starting settings for MIG, TIG, stick and flux core, then does the job math: heat input, preheat, filler to buy and what the weld costs. Every number comes from a published chart or a cited formula, and the app shows you which.

WELD SETTINGS
• Pick the process, metal, thickness and position. Get the rod or wire, size, polarity, amps, volts, wire speed, gas and flow.
• Tell it what you have: the gas on the bottle (C25, CO2, 90/10 or argon), and the rod in the can (E6010, E6011, E6013 or E7018) and its size.
• Stick amps show where the rod makers' printed ranges agree, with each maker's range listed.
• Where no published chart covers your case, you get a dash, not a guess.
• Thickness by gauge or fraction, in inches or millimeters.

JOB MATH
• Heat input, as arc energy or with process efficiency
• Preheat and interpass from the mill test report, by two carbon equivalent methods
• Filler metal: how much rod or wire to buy for a fillet or a groove
• Deposition rate
• Weld cost per joint and per job: labor, filler, gas and power
• Settings carry straight into the calculators
• Reference tables for rod classes, shielding gases and weld defects

EVERY NUMBER SHOWS ITS SOURCE
• Tap Math and sources to see the formula, each step and the document it comes from: US Army TC 9-237, manufacturer data sheets and published standards.
• Save weld settings to jobs, free.

WELD MATH PRO: ONE PURCHASE, NO SUBSCRIPTION
• Save calculator results to jobs
• Print shop tickets: a PDF with the numbers, the math and the sources

YOURS, ON YOUR PHONE
• The calculators work fully offline. No account, no sign-up.
• Your jobs stay on your phone.
