I've played close to 900+ games. Everything is perfect except: Gameplay changes drastically when the opponents ability is upped by one star. Their ability doesn't change all that much. What changes are the cards I'm dealt and the opponent to my right is suddenly psychic about what cards I'm holding. I rarely get good cards if I up their ability to 3 stars. I feel like a jerk for writing a critical review but if I set their ability to 2 then I get great cards and win almost every game. If I set it to 3 then suddenly I my opponent and I get crap cards and lose every game.
Canasta is a quick, easy, and fun game, though I recommend playing without a partner as the computer tends to make inexplicable choices. Only thing I wish is that it had the house rule of 200 points for going out concealed. Takes up very little room on the internal memory, which is a definite plus for me. Great job.
Annoying playing against the computer, it always manages to get the big discard pile and always knows just what to throw out so you cannot pick up. Cant tell you how many times I would throw out matches of the same number and it never once would discard that number but yet right after you throw out the last of that number your holding suddenly it will discard the same number, seems like to me its coded to know you have no more of a card. This "cheating" by the know all see all computer makes this game play annoyingly unfair and frustrating
Works and plays quite well. However, I sometimes get the feeling that it cheats on the more advanced levels [by stacking the deck against you]. It would be nice to have the put down zones on the board clearly defined by means of an outline.[update] the deck definitely is stacked against you in the ai game. Also, there is a *huge discrepancy in playing against a level 1 ai and a level 2 ai.
I've been trying out different canasta games via apps and this one is by far the best. However it has some weird flaws. It is not what I know as traditional hand and foot so I had to get used to a different strategy. However I am VERY confused when your computer partner dirties a clean meld. It doesn't make sense if the point of winning the game is in points why would the computer dirty a natural. Makes zero sense.
I went thru read some reviews and at first I thought it was just me but this game cheats. I have emailed and complained and it only got worse. I am pretty sure they stack the deck. I hate cheating but they probably have no plans on fixing the game.
