About this app

Extract burned-in subtitles from video and save them as timed SRT or VTT files.

iExtract is a subtitle extractor for captions that are permanently visible in the picture. These burned-in or hardcoded subtitles are part of the video image. Choose a video, mark the subtitle area and use on-device OCR to recover the visible words as a separate subtitle file.

RECOVER HARDCODED SUBTITLES
Have a video with subtitles on screen but no SRT file? Extract the visible captions for use in a video player or editor. iExtract reads text from video frames; it does not transcribe speech, translate text or extract a selectable subtitle track from an MKV.

FRAME THE WORDS
Drag and resize the subtitle region to focus on the text you want to extract. The live frame preview follows video playback so you can check where the captions appear.

SAVE SRT OR VTT
Export SubRip (.srt) or WebVTT (.vtt) files with timestamps. Repeated text readings are combined into subtitle cues. Find your exports in Download/IEXTRACT, then open or share them from your subtitle library.

ONE VIDEO OR A BATCH
Choose a single video or prepare up to 20 videos in a batch. Your selected subtitle region, output format and scan speed apply across the batch. Use videos with a similar subtitle position for consistent results.

CHOOSE YOUR SCAN SPEED
Normal scans twice per second for finer timing. Fast samples once per second. Super Fast samples once every two seconds and is available after an optional rewarded ad for one extraction. Faster sampling may miss short lines. Normal and Fast remain available when ads cannot load.

PROCESS ON YOUR PHONE
Video frames and OCR processing stay on your device. Extraction can continue in the background with a progress notification. The app uses Android's file picker so you choose which videos it can access. Ads and external support pages use an internet connection.

BUILT FOR CLEAR CAPTIONS
Best suited to clear subtitles using Latin-script text. Results depend on text size, contrast, video quality and subtitle timing. Review exported files before publishing or sharing them. Common video containers include MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI and WebM; playback and extraction depend on their codecs.

iExtract contains ads. Optional Buy Me a Coffee and PayPal tips are available in More and do not unlock features or remove ads.
