I have been using Kobo for a few years now and I used to love it. But this last year every time they do updates to the app something goes wrong. A few updates ago after they updated I kept getting the same book recommendations all the time and all the time. Even when I say not interested or read it before the same books will come up for recommendation. It's still happening but their latest update with the app things have gotten worse. Now when I read a book and bookmark the chapter and exit the app when I go back in to read more of the book it doesn't open to my bookmark page but 10 to 12 Pages before. It's so frustrating to have to keep going back to the page that you were on when you left. What's the point of having a bookmark if you can't bookmark your page. I tried getting answers from a customer service but they didn't help me. What they told me to do lasted only a couple days and then it started again. It's so frustrating that I feel like closing my account and uninstalling this app. But unfortunately in the last few years I spent too much money on books and I and don't want to waste all the money that I have spent. Please do something to fix this app because it is awful right now. Fix this problem with the chapters and fix this problem with the recommendations

I love this app. It's easy and intuitive to use and the night mode is a great one for reading at night without disturbing your partner! My biggest complaint is that the cost of books seems to be getting steadily further and further apart from the Amazon counterpart making the Kindle look rather attractive for long term benefits. Secondly it would also be nice to be able to have a central cloud storage for imported books and a sync option. As a book reviewer I often receive ARC copies and to not be able to sync my imported reads across devices, whole not a deal breaker, can be less than ideal.
The Android app and my Kobo Glo haven't been able to sync with one another for months. It's absolutely infuriating. Both have the latest software but neither one remembers where the other left off. My Kobo Glo will even tell me that it sync'd seconds ago yet it ends up at the last place it left off. My Android app does the same. It says everything is in sync but none of it is!
Not sure as can't get into my account. Does it not accept hotmail any more. Tried and tried. Then when try to reset password just says check Internet and try again. After 50attempts and yes I have WiFi I give up
For such an elaborate app, the library is a chore to wade through. Why couldn't the books be presented in horizontal rows a la Nook? Also, with no online connection the covers of books go blank. That is not the case with Kindle or Google Play Books, and it's one reason I don't purchase as much as I'd like from Kobo. The vertical library is unnecessary and tedious. But Kobo is, overall, excellent. I hope consideration will be given to customers who like to see covers of books when data or Wi-Fi is out of reach.
The book purchase flow is effortless, but as an e-reader, this app falls down. Critically, it doesn't remember my last reading position. I have to create a bookmark each time I chose to stop reading. There's no control over justification, which makes reading in portrait mode unpleasant. I've had to switch to the app as a reader because my Kobo Aura ONE has failed.
The issue with books not downloading has resolved, all I had to do was change Internet data providers. My grouse now with the app is the dictionary; it's not as good as the Kindle app dictionary. Eg; a book has the word "vittles". Check the definition for that and it shows only "victuals", with no option for checking what "victuals" is...this is so unlike the Kindle app dictionary, which would give you an option of checking what "victuals" is. (September 13, 2017): seeing the size of file before I download it is cool. Well done Kobo. However, I'm giving 3 stars as I await the changes I asked for in my very long feedback email to them: step up the dictionary, give us crisper clearer book pages and neater margins (like Scribd and Kindle!), allow us to see real page numbers and it just percentages and...there was one other thing...
