PDF Tools does everyday PDF jobs on your phone, without sending your files anywhere.
It never asks for access to all your files. You pick a document, or open one straight from your file manager or a chat with "Open with" and "Share", and PDF Tools works on that file only. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account.

HONEST ABOUT THE LIMITS
ā¢ Read aloud uses the text-to-speech engine on your phone. Scanned pages have no text to read; the app tells you so and points you to Extract text.
ā¢ Highlights are drawn as boxes you drag over the text; they do not snap to individual letters.
ā¢ Extract text gives you the text. It does not yet produce a searchable PDF.
ā¢ The OCR model is built into the app, which is why it works offline and why the app is larger than a plain viewer.
ā¢ Scan uses the document scanner in Google Play services; it may be downloaded the first time you use it. The app itself asks for no camera permission.
ā¢ "Remove password" means removing a password you already know from your own file. The app cannot open a document without its password.

Your PDFs are processed on your device. They are not collected, uploaded or shared. The app shows ads, and ads need a connection ā the PDF work itself does not. In the EU and UK you can change your ad privacy choices in Settings.
