Turn a spare phone into a pet alert. Use a spare Android phone to detect your dog's barking without a camera. Check alerts and records on the web while you are away, or use only that phone without an account.

During first setup, choose Check while away or Use only this phone.

With Check while away, leave the spare Android phone at home with power and internet, then use the MungLog web on your everyday phone or computer to review alerts and records. Use only this phone needs no account or home registration. Detection records, recordings, and statistics stay only on that phone and are not sent to MungLog servers. Remote alerts and web review are unavailable, and leaving this mode or switching to web-connected use deletes its records.

The phone left at home analyzes microphone input on the device to find possible barking. It does not identify which individual dog made a sound.

Designed to limit data and network use

• Audio analysis and long-term storage are centered on the phone left at home.
• Recordings are not automatically backed up outside that phone.
• Only a recording that a guardian explicitly requests in the web used while away is encrypted and relayed until the earlier of 15 minutes after the request or 24 hours after detection.
• Statistical records copied to the web stay in that browser, and the server does not retain detailed records for long periods.
• In Use only this phone mode, detection records, recordings, and statistics are not sent to MungLog servers.
• Ads and Google Play updates may communicate separately from product-data transfer when the phone is online.

Important limitations

Detection can be wrong or delayed because of TV audio, vehicles, device placement, network conditions, or the dog's voice. “Strong/repeated sound” and other classifications are reference information based on sound characteristics. MungLog is not an emergency response, security, medical, or behavioral diagnosis service. Check important situations directly.

When you start detection, a foreground service uses the microphone even when you leave the app or turn off the screen. Android shows an ongoing notification while detection is active, and you can stop detection at any time in the app.
