About this app

Lamp Wick Reading helps you train your reading pace under a warm lamp, where progress means speed times understanding, never speed alone.

Many speed reading tools reward a number and forget whether you actually took anything in. Lamp Wick Reading checks both. Every passage ends with multiple-choice questions answered from memory, and your effective speed is your pace multiplied by the share of correct answers.

THREE WAYS TO READ
- Word mode shows one word at a time, with its recognition letter fixed under amber marks so your eyes can rest on a single point.
- Phrase mode groups the text into short chunks that break at punctuation.
- Pacer mode sweeps an amber guide line under normal wrapped text.

Punctuation adds natural pauses, and the timing is balanced so the pace you choose is the true average across the passage.

HONEST PROGRESS
- 30 original short passages on nature, science, travel and inventions, each with its own questions
- Progress measured as speed multiplied by comprehension
- The result card suggests your next pace, and it only goes up after a perfect score
- Track your effective speed over time on the Progress tab

EYE-SPAN DRILLS
Letter grids and word lines flash around a centre mark. The drill levels adapt to your accuracy, stepping up as you improve and easing off when you miss.

CALM AND PRIVATE
- Fully offline: no internet connection needed
- No account and no ads
- No sound, just gentle haptics
- Progress saved on your device

Five simple tabs keep it clear: Read, Passages, Drills, Progress and How. Settle in, pick a passage, and read at a pace you truly understand.
