It's glorified flash cards. It's OK, but it doesn't explain the language at all. It's just pairings of pictures and words. There aren't many Cantonese apps and I guess I'm stuck with Premium for a year, so I'm going to keep trying with it. It's been difficult to retain words from this app and to make sense of the language. If you already know some Mandarin, it helps with understanding some of the sentence structure.

I paid for a subscription when it was on sale (40% off) and it seems like it's worth it so far. THE GOOD: this app is useful for vocab, and there really aren't many apps for Cantonese learning out there so I'll take what I can get. The interface is nice and simple! THE BAD: the audio & jyutpin tones don't always sound like they're matching up. It will sound like a 1st tone, but the jyutpin says 4th tone. Or sometimes saying 我 is 1st tone, when I thought it was exclusively 5th? Maybe I'm wrong.

Drops has become a major part of my day and allowed me to learn a lot of vocab in Cantonese which is drastically underserved by most language apps. The other great thing is it seems to work without data so I can study on the subway while duo lingo and the like all need a connection. The one caveat is that you don't get much grammar from drops but treated as a vocab resource, it's been great!!!
