For 10-hole (diatonic) harmonicas. Play a note and see which hole it is and how high or low it sounds. Practice bends with a meter that shows how far you've bent. Open a song as a hole-number tab, hear it, and play along. No sign-in, and no paid songs.
■ Tuner
Play a note and see its name, how far off it is in cents, and its tab: "4" is hole 4 blow, "−4" is hole 4 draw, "−3′" is hole 3 draw bent down a half step.
Pick the letter printed on your harmonica (any of the 12 keys) and the tabs match it.
A line shows the last four seconds of your pitch. A dot lights up when the note holds steady and close to pitch.
Many harmonicas are made a little above A=440. Set the reference pitch from 438 to 446 Hz - on first launch, blow hole 4 and the app suggests one.
Without the microphone, tap a reference tone and match it by ear.
■ Bend practice
Choose one of 12 bends (−4′, −1′, −6′, −2′, −3′, −2″, −3″, −3‴, 8′, 9′, 10′, 10″). A meter shows your pitch from the unbent note down to the target, and counts each time you hold the target for a second. Hear how the bend should sound first.
The bend check is a practice guide - results can differ with your harmonica and breath.
■ Tabs
Public-domain melodies and traditional folk songs written out as 10-hole tabs.
- Every note shows its hole, blow or draw, and the note name.
- Listen at 50% to 150% speed.
- Play along: with the microphone allowed, play the highlighted hole and the app listens and moves on. Without it, tap the holes.
- A short guide explains blow, draw and bend marks.
■ Your own tabs
Tap holes to write a tune, or type tabs like 4 -4 5 -3'. Add rests and chords of neighboring holes. Save a backup file and bring it back on a new phone.
■ Play on screen
A 10-hole harmonica on screen: hold a hole to play (left blow, right draw), use more fingers for chords, slide to move between holes, and drag outward to bend.
■ Your sound stays on your device
The tuner listens only while it is on screen. Sound is processed on this device and is never recorded or sent.
■ Permissions
Microphone, for the tuner, bend practice, checking your key on first launch, and play-along only. The internet connection and advertising ID are used to show ads and send usage statistics.
Tabs for tremolo and chromatic harmonicas aren't available yet. The tuner's note names work with any harmonica.
