Cadence is a simple interval timer for run/walk training. You set your run and walk durations, the number of intervals, and an optional warm-up and cool-down. Cadence counts you through the whole workout and ends automatically, so you never have to watch the clock.
Run/walk training means alternating short periods of running and walking instead of running the whole way. New runners use it to build up distance, returning runners use it to ease back in, and experienced runners use walk breaks to go farther with less fatigue. It is also the structure behind couch to 5k style training, where you gradually shift the balance from walking toward running.
