About this game

Build. Fall. Rise again.

Hearthfall is a game about building settlements in a forest that forgives nothing. You found a camp around the bonfire, raise homes and workshops, look after three races with their own demands and hold out for four years of seasons… knowing that every autumn, when the Red Moon rises, something comes for you.

One settlement, four years
• Each year is four seasons plus a Red Moon night. The first year's seasons last four minutes and the rest three: a whole run stays just under an hour.
• You win when the settlement gathers the Hope its zone asks for; you lose if Fear catches up, if nobody is left or if the years run out.
• Hope grows with the settlement's goals, explored ruins, slain monsters and nights without losses; Fear grows with every year that passes, every villager who dies or leaves and every building torn down.

Build and manage
• 26 buildings and 14 resources, from firewood and berries to bread, beer, tools and medicine.
• Draw roads with your finger: your people move twice as fast on them.
• Upgrade what you have: shelters into homes, level 2 workshops, irrigated fields, stone towers and walls.
• Pause a building when you don't need it, check why one has stopped working, and look up at any time where each resource comes from and what eats it.
• Every season a merchant shows up with three deals and sixty seconds to make up your mind.

Three races, three characters
Villagers, artisans, hooded folk, knights, mages and druids: three of them live in each settlement. Each race eats its own food and wants something more (bread, tools, beer, medicine or herbs), performs differently on missions, and either settles in or walks away depending on how you treat it.

The forest answers back
• Felling trees, uncovering graves and poking around ruins wakes the forest's wrath; the shrine and replanting calm it down.
• Eighteen clearings hide among the trees and show up as you cut your way through: berries, camps, travellers to rescue, graves to seal, groves, iron veins, ruins and dens with monsters inside.
• You pick who goes on each mission, and not everyone is cut out for every job.

The Red Moon
The forest's wrath decides how many skeletons arrive that night, and at the highest wrath necromancers, golems and bosses show up too. Every Red Moon lasts longer and hits harder than the last, so the final one is nothing like the first. Raise palisades, lay spike traps, build watchtowers and keep the barracks ready: at dawn, whatever is still standing is yours.

A map to conquer
• Every save slot is a campaign with its own world map: 91 hexagonal zones in five rings around the camp, with forests, lake lands, hills, cursed lands and old forest.
• The farther from the centre, the more Hope you need and the harder the night. The two outer rings are the corrupted zone, with its sickly forest.
• Win and the zone is yours to move on from; lose and you go back to where you started, with that zone still waiting.
• Twenty years into a campaign the Great Red Moon arrives: the map is made anew and you return to the centre, but you keep what you have learnt.
• Relics, trophies and seeds buy 22 permanent upgrades in five branches, and they carry over to every settlement you found afterwards.

Made for phones
• Every settlement you found gets its own light: day, afternoon, dusk and dawn.
• Landscape and one finger: draw roads, place buildings and send your people around.
• Plays offline and saves by itself.
• No ads. Free to play with part of the content locked, and a single optional purchase unlocks it: the corrupted land, the new peoples, the rest of the upgrade map and all five campaigns.
• In English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and German.
Build a village, survive the Red Moon, and come back stronger each time.
