About this app

Fully interactive, multi-access botanical key to all the seed plants (gymnosperms and angiosperms) growing wild in the British Isles. By calculating the most incisive question to ask at any point, MAKAQueS is far quicker than other multi-access keys and much more flexible than traditional printed keys.

• Fast. Easy. Accurate.
• Comprehensive taxonomic coverage, including 3289 species, subspecies and species groups, from Abies alba to Zea mays.
• Scientific and common names are both included, with an up-to-date classification into families.
• Includes all the taxa you might find, including local endemics and rare introductions.
• Exclude species or whole families quickly and easily.
• More than 1000 characters in total, dealing with all parts of the plant, including both vegetative features (stem, bark, leaves, etc.) and reproductive features (flowers, fruit and seeds).
• No need to answer impossible questions, or try a range of answers, just to get past a difficult question.
• Covers all of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
• Based on authoritative sources.
• Includes a full glossary.
• Links to an online photo database which is frequently updated.
