Mattermost is great but the app a disaster, whether that's for the desktop or the phone. Slow, unstable, CPU / battery hungry, and still less functionality than just the simple Web interface. If the app cannot improve on the web interface or at least be on par with it, what's the point?

Extremely slow. I've had this app for awhile now (a couple years now) due to work and it's horrible. If they actually get the app running smoother and faster I would be shocked. Update: still slow. Also if you need to actually get a DM then you won't get it on the app. The desktop version works fine (just don't expect to be able to communicate with your job if you actually NEEDED to do so in the event of an emergency because it's actually happened with me). WiFi or LTE is still the same speed.
