Imagine you're Plautus, the most famous playwright of ancient Rome. Outside the theater, the Punic Wars rage, and Hannibal crosses the Alps with elephants, but the show must go on!
Comoedia! Back on Stage is a 2D puzzle game that aims to showcase the works of the famous Roman playwright, a key figure in the European theatrical tradition thanks to his ironic and popular style.
Proceed with the auditions and select the most suitable actors for the part, based on their resumes.
You must be extremely careful to ensure that everyone is perfect for the role. Cross-reference information, reread the synopses, and keep an eye on talents and passions!
When the casting seems perfect, it's time to go on stage: the audience will decide the success or failure of the show.
Five of Plautus' plays are up for the challenge: Amphitryon, Miles Gloriosus, Aulularia, The Two Menaechmi, and Casina.
As you complete the plays, you'll unlock a video that fictionalizes a period in Plautus's life: a direct link between video game and theatrical performance.
A special section of the video game, coming soon, will include an augmented reality experience to discover the Augusto Massari Theater in San Giovanni in Marignano, the third oldest in the Emilia-Romagna region.
Comoedia! Back on Stage was produced by the Teatro Europeo Plautino as part of the call for proposals "Action 1.3.4 Support for innovation and investment in tourism, service, and trade businesses, and cultural and creative enterprises."
The video game was designed and developed by Associazione IVIPRO and Melazeta.
