About this app

CelloDex helps cello players of all levels practice more effectively by scanning sheet music and displaying precise cello fingering information.

Scan & Play
Take a photo of any printed sheet music, and CelloDex instantly shows you which string to play on, which finger to use, and which position to be in.

Smart Fingering Guide
- Automatic string assignment (A, D, G, C strings)
- Finger numbers (0-4) for every note
- Position indicators (1st through 7th position)
- Prefers lower positions for easier playing

Recognition Engine
CelloDex reads your score with KHEngine, our own optical music recognition server. It is selected by default and handles printed sheet music.

A ChatGPT (OpenAI) engine is also available as a backup, and CelloDex switches to it automatically if the KHEngine server cannot be reached, so your scan still goes through. Results from the backup engine are less reliable — check them against your score.

Recognition works best on clear photos of printed music, one page at a time. Handwritten scores are not reliably supported.
