The best app ever I encountered on the play store. Language is a powerful tool for precise expression of our emotions and effectively communication in social bindings. I really appreciate the developers for contributing their expertise and talent towards linguistics in such a great way. As a non native speaker, this dictionary is very useful for me. It explains every word with many examples so that it's every possible context of use is described in a thorough and comprehensive way. Another excellent feature I liked is it keeps a history of your recent searches, so you can revise the list to improve your vocabulary.
It doesn't open in landscape mode. I tried Changing the device settings but all In vain. I use Moto G4 plus on Android nougat. Just have a look at the Typing Widget feature of the "QUICK DICTIONARY" developed by WORD SNITCH. Its an app on play store. Just get The Merriam Webster imbued with this feature and it will be impeccable. You know what I mean. Just make it easy to swipe through the list of saved/favourite words.
I have been using this dictionary for it's ability to be used offline. There are various other apps which are up to standards of this dictionary but do not offer offline services. On other hand it's free and it's free version provides many option which competing products hardly beat it. My criteria of choice does not just includes it's ability of offline and devoid of charges but also explainbility of words. It demonstrate various meanings of words which start with a general meaning. That's of biggest plus point. Later it also shows word route and it's origin. Similarly, it also incorporate various usages of words. Last but not least, it connects the searched words in connection of synonyms and sometimes antonyms. If you like the words and wanted to recall it or remember it, by just clicking on heart you can save many words.
Hands down, the best America English dictionary app, and I've checked many others, even Oxford's. Now, this free version has ads, but they are very small, out of your face, infrequent, not a problem. It has everything you need from a comprehensive "aware-house" of information to intelligently geared games for the user who wants real word associated challenges; you'll be surprised. I've used this app for many years from one device to the next and it has never crashed or faulted. No kerfuffle, discombobulation, kaboom... you get the idea that it's the ideal dictionary app.
I mostly like it, but it has one odd and annoying deficiency. It apparently does not have Merriam-Webster's full dictionary loaded. I have tried to search for two different words in the app and have gotten no results. However, I searched in the M-W website and was able to find both words. Makes the app much less useful.
The only dictionary worth downloading. Simple, effective, with a built in thesaurus containing multiple synonyms AND antonyms*. This is extremely important. There's even a game designed to improve your vocabulary. The whole thing is available offline - in Its entirety - and is completely free, with the odd disruption of an advertisement once every 10-20 word searches. You. Need. This. App.
Fixed "loading definitions" bug.
The only online and offline Dictionary and Thesaurus with every word you look up
