About this app

Tallycraft turns your parts list and the stock you have into sheet and board cutting layouts, so you know how many sheets and boards to buy and the order to make each cut.

Cutting parts from plywood and lumber by hand means sketching layouts on paper, forgetting the blade kerf, and finding out at the saw that the last shelf doesn't fit. Tallycraft does the layout as you type and walks you through each cut.

WHAT IT DOES
• Live layouts: enter parts and stock and every sheet and board is laid out as you type, allowing for blade kerf, edge trim and grain direction.
• Step-by-step cuts: tap a sheet or board to get one cut at a time, with the fence or mark measurement in large type, the piece highlighted and what each cut frees. The screen stays awake while it's open.
• Offcut inventory: mark a project as cut and the leftovers worth keeping go into your offcut inventory, and later projects that use the same material use them before new stock.
• Workshop measurements: type 23 5/8, 2' 3" or 600mm. Inches or millimeters, with fractions rounded to the 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 or 1/64.

• Cut order: best yield, rip first (table saw) or crosscut first (track saw or panel saw).
• Eight starter samples at standard size: bookcase, base cabinet, wall cabinet, drawer boxes, closet tower, workbench, raised garden bed and wall shelves.
• Paste a cut list from a plan or web page; Tallycraft reads quantities, fractions, feet-and-inches, metric sizes and 2x4-style lumber.
• Parts that can't be placed are listed with the reason: too large, grain conflict, no matching material, or stock ran out.

TALLYCRAFT PRO (ONE-TIME PURCHASE)
• Deep Optimize: tries many part orderings, fit rules and stock-size mixes and keeps the layout that uses the least material. Free layouts show when Deep Optimize would save a sheet or a board.
• Plan Import: scan a printed plan, pick a photo or screenshot, or open a PDF, CSV or text file. Text is read on your device.
• Custom-Size Builders: resize the samples to your space and every part is recalculated for the material thickness.
• PDF Workshop Blueprints: a printable cut plan with shopping list, cut list, numbered sheet diagrams and tick boxes for each cut.
• Project Cost Estimates: material cost from the prices you enter, plus hardware and finish, sales tax and the cost of your scrap.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no sign-in and no ads. Projects and offcuts are kept on your phone, and we run no server that receives them. The on-device text recognition used by Plan Import sends Google its own diagnostics; the privacy policy has the details.

Layouts are straight-through (guillotine) cuts for rectangular parts. Tallycraft doesn't connect to or control any saw. Always check measurements before cutting.
