Journay is an end-to-end encrypted diary where your stories live sealed on your device. Not on our servers. Not readable by Journay's team. Only decryptable by you, using your own secret key — a 24-word phrase you generate on first launch.
Write however you think: freeform prose, structured notes, a gratitude list, a dream you want to remember, a mood you want to name. Reflect on your day. Confide what you can't say out loud. Add photos and tags. The wellbeing module tracks sleep, energy, or whatever you're watching.
Every story stays private until you choose otherwise. No performance pressure, no daily streaks, no notification guilt. Come back when you're ready. Leave gaps. Your journal isn't judging you.
Collections organize your writing the way your mind works — daily thoughts, dreams, gratitude, anything that doesn't fit elsewhere. Each collection lives as a floating orb on your home screen. Only you can see inside.

Sometimes you need to be heard by someone who doesn't know you. That's what The Stories Feed is for — a hush, safe space to be heard without judgment.
Publish a story anonymously. Your real name never appears. Your only identity is an auto-generated pseudonym — something like "Silent Nebula" — permanent and consistent, separate from your real self.
Strangers read your story. They resonate (a single, quiet like). They leave whispers — short, anonymous messages that say "I've felt this too." No debate. No judgment. Just care.
Unpublish any story instantly. Your writing, your control.
What you share is plaintext — anonymous, not encrypted — so readers can read it. What you keep private stays end-to-end encrypted. The two modes are deliberately separate.
One important note: your private journal is E2EE — encrypted with a 24-word key only you hold. If you lose it, we genuinely cannot recover your writing — by design.

Journay uses XChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption. When you write a story, it's encrypted on your device before it leaves your phone. Our servers never see your private writing.
Your secret key is a 24-word phrase you generate and store yourself — the only way to decrypt your stories on a new device. Journay doesn't store it. There's no "forgot your key" flow, by design. Write it down and keep it safe: your private diary is yours alone.
