**In Kenya, M-KOPA customers can get access to cash loans through the app**

Repayment period: 105-282 days
Interest rate (monthly): 5.6-9.1%
Interest rate (annual/APR): 67-109%

No fees, no late penalties.

Example: Borrow Ksh 7,000 with a total interest amount of Ksh 3,320 to be repaid over 258 days. The principal amount to be repaid is Ksh 7,000, and the interest amount to be repaid is Ksh 3,320. The interest amount is fixed and won't increase even if the customer's payments are behind schedule or if the customer takes more than 258 days to pay. There are no fees or late penalties charged -- the interest amount is the only cost of the loan.

Ratings and reviews

The app was working fine after I paid my previous balance. I recently borrowed 100,000 Naira, and I have never defaulted on a payment before. However, last week, the app logged me out, and I haven't been able to log back in. If I didn't memorize my account number, my phone would probably be locked by now. Right now, I don't even know my remaining balance. I am stuck waiting for them to lock my phone just so I know it is time to pay. Please look into this issue."

Not that good. can't auto update. phone fully paid, cash loan fully repaid despite the fact that it was to be completed in July, but still the system locks the phone and you can have any more benefit. on contacting, they ask you to give all your confidential details I,e ID Number, Full names, date of birth....what for??? shameful

The app is good, quality service. However, I am rating one star because for one major issue. One should have complete access to one's phone (the ability to restore to the original factory settings) after the full payment. The idea of having to wait one whole year to be able to do that (according to the customer care rep) sounds absurd. You may want to look into that. Thank you.
