Yestara is a nostalgia app. It makes a memory out of the world you grew up in — the 90s, the 2000s, the years your childhood actually happened in.

You answer a few questions once: the year you were born, where you grew up, the language you heard at home, the cartoon you rushed back for. After that, whenever you like, you pick a kind of afternoon and a year, and Yestara writes that memory for you. A monsoon evening in 2005. The hour before dinner. The evening the power went. Cricket in the road, a long train journey, an hour at the cyber café.

These are not your photographs, and Yestara never asks for them. Every memory is written and illustrated by AI from the era you choose: the light, the sounds, the ordinary details of a time and a place. It is a way of remembering how something felt, not a record of what happened.

MEMBERSHIP
Free: 5 new memories a month, up to 3 a day.
Membership: 40 new memories a month, up to 10 a day.

Every memory you make is kept to your account, whichever plan you are on. There is nothing to press, and it is there again when you sign in on another phone or reinstall the app.

No plan makes an unlimited number of memories. Your memories refill every month — a monthly membership each time it renews, a yearly one on the day you bought it. Unused memories do not carry over, and the app always shows how many are left.

Membership starts with 7 days free. Cancel before it ends and you are not charged.

Subscriptions are billed through Google Play and renew until you cancel. Cancel any time in your Play account settings.

QUIET BY DESIGN
• At most two notifications a week, between 9am and 9pm in your own time, and always about a memory rather than about the app
• No advertising
• Sign in with Google, and delete your account from inside the app at any time
• Every memory can be reported, and a person reads every report within a day
