About this app

Researchers at Monash University have developed a diet and corresponding app to assist in management of the gastrointestinal symptoms associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The Monash University Low FODMAP diet works by restricting foods high in some carbohydrates called FODMAPs.

The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following:

- General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS.
- Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet.
- A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'.
- A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP.
- A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes.
- Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods
- A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction.
- The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.

Navigation of the Low Fodmap elimination diet was greatly helped by this app (and the purchase of a food scale). Also made the reintroduction phase easier to understand and accomplish. Wish there was room for comments on the bowel movement section as my experience doesn't "match" the pictures and comments available as choices

This is not worth $9. The food diary is just plain text and not connected to the app's food database, so it's just as effective as writing in a notebook. The search functions in the food database are limited. There's no option to search by the type of carb to locate high FODMAP foods to use in the challenge/reintroduction phase. You just have to look up every.single.ingredient. The filtering options are probably helpful once you know what you're trying to avoid, but useless in phase 2.

Hi Melinda, we're sorry you are disappointed with the app. We appreciate the feedback regarding linking the food guide and diary. In step 2, you can use the reintroduction function in the diary (symbol on the top right with the apple and arrow) to guide you through which foods, and how much, to use.

Using this to finally start the FODmap diet that I've been putting off for years. The diary functionality is frustrating for a paid app. It often opens/defaults to the day before (but not always?), so I have to go back and edit if i forget to catch that. The options for BMs are pretty limited. Might be nice to have a water tracker/log of some sort as well instead if having to make a personal note or count it with meals. Symptoms, intake, and output are important, so the diary could be improved.
