About this game

A word sits on the page. Change one letter and it becomes another word. You can add a letter, take one away, or swap one. Then do it again, before the ink dries.

You write the letters with your finger. Clear one and the ink smears. Write another and it appears the way a pen would draw it. The clock is a line of ink drying at the bottom of the page. When time runs out, the line crumbles.

Five ways to play

Blitz gives you ten seconds per word, and the clock gets tighter as you go. If you want more time, you can set it to twenty seconds. Daily gives everyone the same starting word, once a day. Bridge names two words and asks for the shortest path between them. Depth has no clock. You start from one word and see how far you can go. Duel is two people on one phone. You pass it back and forth. A turn starts when the phone changes hands.

After each game

When you finish, the game shows the Scribe's path. It is a longer chain, shown one word at a time, in gold next to yours. Every word you play goes into a Word Book you can open later. Each English word has a one-line definition.

Your numbers

A dashboard shows four things: your median time per word, your longest chain, how many different words you have played, and how close your Bridge games came to the shortest path. Week by week. Every number is written out as well as drawn. It says "0.8s faster than four weeks ago."

No ads during play

There are no ads. There is no energy meter. Nothing you can buy makes a word easier or a score higher. If Morphink ever sells anything, it will be ink colours and paper.

Works offline

The dictionary, the scoring, and the daily word all live on your phone. The download includes 172,772 English words, 331,758 French words, and 15,535 English definitions. You do not need an account.

It runs on an older phone. A letter answers your finger in about a millisecond.

You can turn on reduced motion, a dyslexia-friendly typeface, and a night page from the first screen. Every colour pairing meets WCAG AA in both themes. Shape and type carry the same facts as colour.

The game is in English and French, both the menus and the word list. Definitions are English only for now.

A circle of people you know can play today's word together. Nobody sees anybody's hand until they have played their own.

Quiet text in some inks was too quiet to read. It speaks up slightly. Your inks are unchanged.
