"MTR · Care" mobile app, equipped with a user-friendly, clear and easy-to-use interface for the elderly and customers with special needs, is now available. Five functions – Trip Planner (Simplified Version), Barrier-free Facilities Information, Wheelchair Portable Ramp Booking, In-Station Navigation (For Visually Impaired), and In-station Assistance (For Hearing Impaired) functions are now available for the elderly and customers with special needs, making their journeys smoother and enabling better advance planning.

Key features of the five functions:

1. Trip Planner (Simplified Version): a one-stop-shop function providing comprehensive journey information. In addition to features such as estimated travel time, routing and “Fast Exit” Information, etc. We have enhanced the function by adding Real-time Lift Maintenance Information, further facilitating the elderly and other customers to plan trips in advance.

2. Barrier-free Facilities Information: a comprehensive function providing barrier-free facilities information of stations for customers with special needs, including those with mobility impairments, visual impairments as well as hearing impairments, creating a more inclusive and smooth travel experience for all. Customers can also find the Real-time Lift Maintenance Information in this function.

3. Wheelchair Portable Ramp Booking: An additional method for wheelchair customers and caretakers to book portable ramps in advance, with real-time lift maintenance status, for easier trip planning.

4. In-Station Navigation (For Visually Impaired): a navigation function, currently covering Exhibition Centre Station, stations on the Island Line, Kwun Tong Line and Tsuen Wan Line, supported by an audio beacon to assist visually impaired customers in accessing station facilities and other information.

5. Trial In-station Assistance (For Hearing Impaired): an additional way for hearing impaired customers to seek non-emergency assistance from station staff at Quarry Bay Station and Shek Kip Mei Station.
