About this app

The reliable and straightforward Aviation Weather app for Pilots and aerospace enthusiasts. The METAR-Reader decodes and presents the current METARs of more than 9500 Airports around the globe. Neither more nor less. A simple Color Coding allows a fast classification by VFR or IFR Conditions - as an option even by NATO Color State. Additionally the current TAF weather forecasts are retrieved and displayed clearly in a decoded form.

Runway crosswind components are automatically calculated based on the current METAR. A Widget which can be configured to display either decoded METAR or raw METAR / TAF is also available.

As a bonus the app offers access to NOTAM for the weather stations, which will be downloaded, in part decoded and which can individually be marked as read. This way you can easily keep track of new and relevant NOTAM.

New weather stations can be found worldwide by ICAO or IATA-Codes, airport name or city. They can be organized in user defined groups - e. g. for your most common routes or alternate airports. Additionally an auto-managed group always presents nearby weather stations.

For use during the night, there is a dark theme which can be activated either manually or automatically by the system (depending on your Android version).

This app is very handy because I have several airports I can look at. You can get a pretty good picture of weather cells as they move around by looking at the various airports wind directions temperatures etc. And it's nice to know what the weather is doing at the current moment. Most other weather apps get data from TV stations and who knows where and sometimes they're pretty inaccurate. You can't get much more accurate weather than METAR and TAF.

I use this app and it is very useful for wind. As a pilot, thank you for that. However, if you do not pay for the upgraded version, then you will not be able to see accurate runway information including length and width. I understand that you need users to pay for the information to continue the site. But instead of omitting any runway information, they chose to include completely inaccurate data. This is incredibly dangerous. They list runways that are 8500 feet as only being 2500 feet.

Thank you for the information. The app does not deliberately show incorrect information. If the runway length was incorrect, then it was because of a data error. Could you tell me which airport it was, so that I can check it?

I use this app a lot and find it extremely useful. I set up groups for airports along an intended route of flight and can then very quickly get a weather picture while preparing for a flight. One suggestion: put a symbol for an airport where a TAF is available. On an unfamiliar route I might set up 30 airports in a group. Then as departure time approaches and I want to see forecasts, I can never remember which airports in the list have TAFs and I end up with lots of unnecessary clicking. If there were a symbol to illustrate a TAF is available it would make the app even better for me. Great app.
